Bendigo Energy Breakthrough

August 27, 2015

On the 22nd August 2015, 30 grade 5/6 students went to Ewing Park to race in the Bendigo HPV EEV Grand Prix (Human Powered Vehicle and Energy Efficient Vehicle) race. The race was supposed to go for 10 hours but was cut short to 9 hours because of track work. Each rider rode for 30 minutes and most rode twice. Everyone had the best time and enjoyed every second of the day. “I enjoyed hanging around the pits and riding throughout the day,” said Tom Hodgskiss. There were primary, secondary and college students racing. Then there were the older teams who were the best and rode more competitively. Some of the fastest vehicles were riding at 60 kilometres per hour! It took a lot of organising and fixing up the vehicles before the race but it was all worth it. During the race Turbo Turtle’s chain came off, crashed into a real car and rolled twice! Everyone had a great time and are looking forward to the big race at Maryborough!
