In 2010 there are three prep grades. The teachers are Mrs Lisa Howard, Mrs Cindy Heggie and Miss Danielle Osborne. The prep classrooms are situated in the "junior wing" 001, 003 and 004.
Our prep program provides stimulation, choice, variety and a strong literacy and numeracy foundation with a 2 hour literacy block and a 1 hour numeracy block. Our curriculum aims to develop young children’s autonomy, confidence, thinking skills, curiosity and eagerness to learn. Our curriculum is “hands on” and builds on the children’s strengths. ICT is used throughout the day and is integrated into most key learning areas. Interactive whiteboards and classroom computers are used daily as a tool for learning.
The Early Years Learning and Development Framework provides a curriculum framework based on sound child development research.
The prep teachers understand the needs of young children and aim to help them build secure relationships and friendships.
Play spaces outside allow for a variety of play choices. Running, throwing, catching activities on the oval, playground play and quiet areas cater for children’s individual play needs.
Our transition program is comprehensive and aims to give children the best possible start to school. Parents can make use of the “Child Development Parent Library” which has a broad range of books and DVD’s providing accurate information on child development, positive parenting, diet, nutrition and social and emotional development and much more. Welcome to prep!
