The management of traffic around a school often poses unique challenges and our school is no exception to this. Moving 481 students in and out of the school at both ends of the days means that we have many different forms of travel occurring – cars, buses, bikes and walking – in the space at the same time. The school and the Strathfieldsaye and District Community Enterprise have been active in lobbying for improvements to our road network and we are hopefully that we will see some action on this in the near future. However the road network is only one part of the puzzle. It is important that all road users – drivers, riders and walkers – follow the road rules and park legally in all areas but particularly around the school. We have had a number of reports of double parking, parking in inappropriate bays and of near misses with children crossing the road which can add to the already frustrating pick up and drop off time. As many of you are aware the local council do patrol the roads and car parks around the school and are quick to pass on any infringement notices to travellers.
